Handle updated product changes for updated ingredients/nutrition
Back sometime around end of 2019 or 2020 Kirkland brand updated their protein bars where one notable change was swapping the old problematic "dietary fiber from tapioca starch" for "soluble corn fiber". I can edit the existing entry (https://world.openfoodfacts.org/product/0096619356096/cookies-and-cream-protein-bar-kirkland-signature) but ideally the site can offer functionality to duplicate or link to existing UPC codes a new entry for say "2020 US version" in cases where both old and new products are on the shelves at the same time due to back stock. In general it could also be helpful to see how product ingredients and nutritional characteristics change…

Support multilingual packaging.
In Canada, packaging has labels in both enCA and frCA.
This is particularly difficult for ingredients, which would be nice to be able to input in both languages.
For an example of the current compromise for labels like this, see: http://world.openfoodfacts.org/product/06792800/diet-cokeTM-coke-diete-coca-cola

Provision of country-specific product exports to subdomain
It would be very helpful if an export of the country-specific products in the respective language (for example 3045140105502) would exist on each subdomain. The current export gives me the English name of the product, but if it is needed in German, then it doesn't do much, because the name is different.
I think an alternative could also be to increase the CSV export limit of the data so that you can download all products of a subdomain.

CSV export doesn't work
I am interested in developing an application based on Open Food Facts database and I would like to import some data to a local database. The problem is that I tried to save a search in CSV and I found out that the CSV is not correctly generated. The output file is tab separated but some fields like ingredients contain other tabs instead of comas and therefore columns are not clearly separated.

Display the owner of the brand next to the brand name
Add a new field close to the brand name to inform of the owner of the brand. Many times the brand and company's name doesn't match or a company can have plenty of registered trade marks, like Kraft, Pepsico or Lidl supermarkets. (suggestion by Javichu)
3 votesThat’s a good idea. I started a file some time ago to list the hierarchy of brands and companies:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pEqrTLA6pUBo-s87GChquR754MSuSws-hzYnWrBZ4QA/edit
I’m guessing the file can be international. We may get a few conflicts here and there (different brands with the same name) but hopefully we’ll find a way to solve them. -
Dangerousness of food additives
Not all food additives are good for your health. There has been an increase in inflammatory bowel disease since the 1950s and 1960s, which corresponds to the increase in the use of food additives in prepared foods. The Good to Know website gives a classification and some are to be avoided. Perhaps it would be possible to add a dot (green/orange/red/black) according to these additives.

Add tutorial
In the app, but could be on the site too, we should have a tutorial at first launch (with tick box "don't display next time") that will say:
login to off
while on the move:
1/ scan bar code
2/ take at least 3 pictures:
a. front picture of the product
b. picture of nutrition facts
c. picture of ingrediants
enter prdouct name.when back home you can login on the web off and go to the "product you added or contributed" page and confortably type all the information from your computer or another contributor may type it for you…

Products in Categories have to show the NOVA score besides the Nutri score.
I would like the app when browsing Categories to show the NOVA score besides the Nutri score. NOVA is more important to me. Now I have to click at the individual producs in a categorie to see NOVA.

linked data
while the data grows it could be interesting to have the data available by SPARQL and on the cloud LOD.
If you like the idea and would like to have some help on that i could contribute directly too.2 votesHi Alfredo,
There’s no SPARQL endpoint at this time, but there is a RDF export.
I only announced it in French so far:
http://fr.blog.openfoodfacts.org/news/des-donnees-libres-et-liees-export-rdf-des-donnees
But the data is there for all languages.
I’m thinking about installing a very simple endpoint. Maybe 4store. Any suggestions to what would be the simplest and quickest approach?
Thanks,

Include information on a products environmental impact
Not sure how yet, but it would be of immense value to build a database that includes environmental impact of products, packaging and production process, including the farming of it's ingredients. By using a wiki based approach information about the production process and specific sources of the ingredients and farming practices of all the ingredients could be investigated and shared. Maybe a research team can set this up?

How to handle multipacks?
So, it so happens that I added a product which is a yogurt multi pack with 5 different types of yogurt. The pack strap has the only barcode, each yogurt cup doesn't have any.
The problem arises when I want to specify the ingredients and the nutritional values, as there is 5 of each for each type of yoghurt.
How should we tackle this?
I guess I could calculate the average nutritional values and that would solve it, but what about the ingredients? They vary. Here's the example. It's in Portuguese but you get the gist:

Add recycling information
That way we can put all the relevant information about the recycling of the containers: if it's PET, HDPE, steel, aluminum, etc.

getting started guide
i can't find a guide what i should do to contribute.
i installed the app, registered an account, log in, scan a product and uploaded pictures. there is no information how to chose the categorie and what categories are used. there should be autocomplete in these fields and the ingredients should get OCRd from the pictures.

Gattungsprodukte, Generic products
This can also be done by means of a database query (without barcode, without manufacturer). For a short form of the database without exact (only approx.) data, an aggregation of the nutritional values from genera/categories/classifications would be helpful (example: salami). See Swiss nutritional database "generic foods".
